The Challenge

Finding someone is hard.

Let me rephrase that. Finding a gay man who's willing to commit--and worth committing to--is like finding a copy of Katherine Dunn's first book ATTIC.

Sorry--I'm a book-crazy dork at times. I work in a library and I read...a lot.

The last book I read was called Julie and Julia. You may have heard of Julia Powell and her online project The Julie/Julia Project--or was it Julia/Julie? Anyway, she set out to make every recipe in Julia Child's massive tome--MASTERING THE ART OF FRENCH COOKING.

I happened to love the book, and since I do have an English degree with a focus in Creative Writing, I thought--why don't I try something like this? Creative Non-Fiction--especially the Challenge section of the genre (GOING JELLY: ONE MAN'S STORY ABOUT EATING 1,000 JELLY BEANS IN ONE MONTH AND HOW IT CHANGED HIS LIFE).

So, I thought I'd pick a project that I could not only get into, but that would be interesting to read about--and something that might benefit me in the long run. That was when I came up with the idea for this blog. After all, who doesn't want to hear about some poor dweeb dating around and having adventures in Romance Land? (Yeah, it could very well be that corny.)

Here are the rules:

1) 100 Dates doesn't necessarily have to mean 100 Different Boys. Multiple dates with the same boy counts.

2) I will not, however, go on any second dates just to help my count. I have to be significantly "into" the person to merit a second date.

3) If I see myself heading into Relationship territory--doubtful but hey, who knows--the Project ends.

4) The goal would be to find someone dateable on a long-term scale before actually hitting Date 100. But come on, I know you folks want a little blood and gore before then, right?
